Our mission is to drive impactful discoveries that inform evidence-based treatments, promote healthy development, and support community health and well-being.

We aim to advance understanding of cannabis, cannabinoids, and the endocannabinoid system through rigorous research focused on their effects on human brain development and mental health.

Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences Hilary Marusak, Ph.D., serves as director of the division.

Our short-term goals are to:

  1. Build a Collaborative Research Network
    • Unite multidisciplinary researchers and students across campus to strengthen research capacity on cannabis, cannabinoids, and their roles in neurodevelopment and health.
  2. Foster New Collaborations
    • Establish partnerships that will lead to new research initiatives, training programs, and opportunities for center or program grants.
  3. Host Seminars and Guest Speakers
    • Organize internal seminars and invite external experts to present on cannabis, cannabinoids, and development, enhancing WSU’s reputation in this field.
  4. Launch Collaborative Pilot Projects
    • Initiate pilot studies that serve as a foundation for securing larger NIH grants.
